Rhythmically, athletically and energetically, Step Up 3D does not disappoint.. A glum and dispiriting counterfeit of reality that turns out to be much more interesting to speculate about than to actually watch.. While director Jon M. Chu's acrobatic cast proves adept at moonwalks and break-dances -- and even tangos and tap -- not a one displays anything even closely approximating charisma..
